What and Where to Eat in Germany (Part II)

...continued from What and Where to Eat in Germany (Part I)

Relish Restaurant & Bar @ The Westin Grand Hotel Berlin
The Westin Grand Hotel Berlin is conveniently located along Friedrichstraße and one street away from Unter den Linden, near Brandenburg Gate and UNESCO world heritage site Museum Island. Chose to sit at lounge seats with low table by the floor-to-ceiling glass at The Westin Lobby Bar & Lounge, and ordered from Relish Restaurant & Bar's menu. Pleasantly surprised that the French-with-Asian-influence dishes were beautifully plated and executed  grilled king prawns with green salad and papaya-chilli-relish; fried scallops with cauliflower served three ways, raisins and capers; sous vide cooked pork belly with corn puree, fried leek and chili popcorn.

Sophia's Restaurant & Bar @ The Charles Hotel, Munich
Also a short distance from München Hauptbahnhof, The Charles Hotel is built on the site of a former university library near the Old Botanical Garden. And the botanical theme continues, surprisingly, in Sophia's Bar menu. As the name suggests, Sophia is both a restaurant and a bar. Tried our luck at the former without reservations and were told it was full though if we liked, we could sit at the latter and order from both menus. Realised later that we were underdressed for the restaurant and staff were just being very polite. Similarly in trying to clear our tables, they asked "Can I make some space for you?" Service was excellent, and the food mostly good.

Käfer
Käfer is a family business with presence in The German Bundestag and Munich Airport among others. Reserved a table for breakfast at the former  Käfer Dachgarten Restaurant, and tried Käfer Bistro at Terminal 2 of the latter while waiting for the check-in counter to open (no complaints about its tomato-based shrimp pasta). Similar to National Gallery Singapore, reservations for Käfer Dachgarten Restaurant has a separate queue into The German Bundestag and allows us to explore the historic Reichstag building after. Could neither rave about nor fault its omelettes made of three organic eggs with mushrooms, parsley and chive cream or shrimps, red onions and dill sour cream.
